Weekends go fast....

We had a good weekend. We did a bit of thrifting, at some yummy pizza, and pretty much relaxed. I can't believe this summer is whizzing by. This next weekend is the Fourth of July, crazy. I found some cute thermoses.

The red thermos is super awesome. Its up in my shop. I had to share the awesomeness.

I had fun yesterday playing with my Danbo. She got to work in the lab.

I love to collect Re-ment. I also love Hello Kitty. I have been eyeing the Hello Kitty re-ment set with the rice cooker. I can tell its getting harder to find, so I snagged one from my favorite ebay seller, and it was her last.

Too much fun to be had. Have a happy Monday!

No lights?

Last night I was sitting on the couch embroidering and watching 30 Rock, thinking about what snack I might eat, when, the electricity went out. Okay, I paid the bill, so I know its not that. The kids somehow in their sleep heard everything shut off, so they wake up screaming. I furiously found my flash light, and then found all the kids flashlights. We peeked outside, and the whole street didn't have power. So we called the company, they were already on it. You know what I realized, I take electricity for granted. We had the air going, cable on, fridge for cold drinks. With no electric, it seems so boring, and candles put me to sleep. I finished my shirt. I really like it in the blue and white gingham.

Okay I am addicted to looking at the "Suggested Shops" section on Etsy. I have found so many things that I otherwise amy have not found that I love.

I love these pictures by Helen Dardik She has such a vintage touch to her pictures, and this one makes me really happy.

I love anything Kawaii. I found this awesome shop called "Kawaii Cute" and they have the most amazing Japanese craft books. This book is definitly on my list.

Oh I wish I could have snagged this necklace when it was on the front page from "Lovely Musings". As soon as I inquired it was gone. I love the color!!

Just wanted to share a few of my faves. I have alot of work to do this weekend. With Father's day and a birthday, it seems this week wasn't very productive. Anyways, Happy Friday!

P.S. If you are a fan of Heidi Kenney, Oh wait a second, who isn't a fan? Anyways, high tail it over to her blog for a chance to win one of her KidRobot plush pizza slices, or a flapjack with butter! Me want! I would love to snuggle up with a slice of pizza!!!

Summer Dreamin'

Wow I don't want June to be over this fast. I love to savor summer. Even though it gets hot, summer just seems more relaxing. Well I don't teach in the summer, so that is one thing that gives me a bit of a break. I have so many projects swirling around in my head. I want to start on a quilt for my daughters using some of my vintage sheet collection. I was very much inspired by the quilt that Candace from Sparkle Power made with her vintage sheet collection. I plan on just doing a block quilt, and I want to tie this one as she did and not do all machine quilting. So that is project number one in my head. I have one shirt nearly completed, just need to hem it. I have more I plan on working on. Another thing I want to conquor this summer is learning how to screen print. I have had a whole set for several years now, but haven't had the nerve to test it. I have so many t-shirt ideas that need to be screen printed. So this is project number two in my head. Of course I continue to work on my embroidery pieces. I also keep having thoughts of creating a zine. When I was in school I absolutely loved zines. I want to just start sketching out ideas, and thoughts that I find comical or interesting. If only I had more hours in the day. I feel like I start to fade too early in the day. Oh and yes I have some big plans for redecorating my daughters room . They have many vintage pieces which I adore, so I want to play off of that. She has a vintage toy baby crib from the fifties in near mint condition, and a vintage toy baby highchair that I love too. I want to bring out some of the vintage colors fron these pieces. So do you think I have enough I want to accomplish this summer. Not to mention I want to work on my Christmas stockings for winter. I want to work on some new designs for my shop. I had a blast with those last year.

I found this at the thriftstore this past weekend. It will be great for a vintage camera collector. It still has the flashes, the book , the box, pretty much the whole kit. I already have a brownie, so I plan on selling it in my shop.

Well I am off to relax and think about thing I want to get done;)

P.S. Seriously tail it over to Dainty Squid for the most amazing giveaway from MungoCrafts. I love love these sweatshirts!!!!

Birthday Wishes!

My little girl turned four today. Can I tell you a bit about her? One of the most thoughtful people of have met in my life. She always thinks of others before herself. She likes to take care of everyone, like a little mommy. She knows how to make any situation turn around with her fun and happy personality. I will never forget one time at dinner she noticed that my husbands nose was running ,and she asked him if he would like her to get him a tissue. Just those little things she is always doing. If I could be half as thoughtful as she is. She has this innocent little joy to her which I absolutley adore. She enjoys the simple things in life. She has the prettiest curls around. She is as petite as ever! She loves to dress up and go shopping (yay for me!) She loves her nails painted, but would prefer her hair to be wild and messy. She tells me I'm her best friend, and I couldn't have a better best friend. Happy Birthday!

Looonnnng Weeeek....

I've kind of had one of those Mommy weeks. You know the kind where your feel like you had to be the bad guy non-stop. Ugh! I hate those weeks. My husband so kindly took me to get a falafel sandwich to help my week out. And what can't falafel fix?
I was at a cupcake party on Monday and was excited to hear some Daniel Johnston. If you have not see his documentary, " The Devil and Daniel Johnston," order it now. I have seen it several times, but have wanted to own. I bought it yesterday for a little over 13 dollars on Wal-mart.com and only 97 cents to ship. I can't wait to watch it yet again. His song, "True love will find you" brings chills to me every time. If you know anything about him, it breaks your heart a bit too.

What a treasure on this earth. He has brought so much to the music world. His writing is absolutely amazing!

Check out this wonderful magical treasury The Light Fantastic put together.

Tonight is our local Etsy party. I hope to go. It will be nice to meet other Etsians in the area.

I'm almost done with my gingham shirt. I need to go fabric shopping soon. We have a busy week next week, well father's day is on Sunday, and my little girl is turning 4 on Tuesday. I will share what we worked on for daddy on fathers day. It was fun.
Well have a great Friday.

Rice Krispie Treats are soooo good....

Why must rice krispy treats be so delicious. I haven't made them in a couple years, but the commercial was calling my name. I can make them with the non diary butter for my daughter, and they are just amazing. I couldn't stop eating the marshmallow goodness!

We have been having some pretty crazy heat, that usually doesn't arrive until August, so getting out doesn't last for long. Last night we had a rain so it cooled things down a bit this morning. I let the dog out and caught some coolness in the air, so off to the park we went for a walk and to feed the ducks. There were all kinds of little ducklings. The kids had so much fun feeding and talking to the ducks.

I have felt so uncreative lately. I keep getting tired in the evening and my creative juices are diminishing. I have some projects in the works, but they are slow in coming. Oh well, I guess that happens sometimes. With all the play time in the summer, Im ready for bed once I lay the kiddos down. Well off to embroider and eat some lunch!

Meet Me at Mike's Envelope Project

I love anything to do with crazy ideas, and sending letters, and craft swaps. When I came across "Meet Me At Mikes" envelope project I knew I had to do it. You just decorate an envelope and put little ins and odds of paper, craft pieces, pictures, and send it to Pip in Australia. She owns and runs and little shop in Australia, and she is putting all the envelopes with their contents in her window. She will be posting pics of all the letters with their contents on her flickr and blog. I can't wait to see what arrives. I put all kinds of little finds from my desk and around the house. A hodge podge of who I am as well. I painted the envelope and machine stitched it. I even machine stitched lace to the edges. It was pretty fun to create. I worked on it this weekend. We had a very lazy weekend. We pretty much lounged around and ate food. A good weekend I would have to say. I posted a button on the side that you can link to to check out the details and get your envelope to Australia. It just started June 4 and is runnig for six weeks. She is going to start posting the envelopes on the 14th. Can't wait!

Friday, My Fave Day, T.G.I.F.

I love Fridays. You want to know why. I know I can lay on the couch all evening until really late with my husband watching movies or nonsense shows. I have been steadily working on my shirt. I attached all the bodice pieces, and I'm not working on finishing the sleeves. I plan on going fabric shopping next week, and I feel like I'm in the market for some floral and I would love love to find some cool plaids and ginghams.

So I have to tell you about an amazing project that fellow blogger "Becky Buttons" is working on. She is interviewing 50 crafters from 50 states. I have read through all the interviews, and it is so awesome to see where other crafters find their inpiration. I was honored that she asked me to be a part of it , and she is featuring my interview today! Check it out!

Oh I can't forget I wanted to give a big thank you to Carina from "Feeling Stitchy" for featuring my new pieces "Drifting."

I love seeing everyone's blogs when they do Friday Faves, so I'm going to start posting some of mine that I have found recently.

Okay these tiny toadstool berets are absolutely amazing. It took my breath away the first time I saw these by "Tiny Toadstool." Simply stunning.

Okay my next friday fave is a shop I came across that does the most awesome reconstruction recycled dresses and shirts. I love the oragami details on her necklines. Check out "Peeko Apparal."

And finally, check this shop out! The most stunning creature creations I have seen in awhile. Check out "Cuore."
I am in awe of "Mel the Skunk." I would love to carry a skunk around!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Doing What I Love

As I have mentioned many times before, making clothes is something I absolutely love to do. I started on a new shirt last night. It is almost like taking a big breath of fresh air. I love the cutting, the matching of pieces, the sewing on the machine! I love it all. I am making a dark blue gingham shirt with Simplicity 2962. I made this one last year with a plaid , and I still adore it. It is a super easy one to make, and very flattering at the same time as well. I really have this dream of working through alot of my patterns in the next few months so that I could have a handmade wardrobe. I feel like the clothing I have made myself, flatters me more than the store bought pieces. I plan on doing a little fabric shopping next week for ideas for some of my patterns. I love looking at dress patterns, but I feel like I don't wear them enough. I have collected alot of vintage patterns that would be super fun to make. I will be turning thirty in September, and would love to get a serger to celebrate this big event. I have yet to figure out which type would be suite me. I want to go to a sewing machine shop to test some out. I feel like my clothing would step up a notch in durability and look if I had the edges serged. I usually do a zig zag stitch so that my seams dont' unravel and last for awhile. Well I'm off to finish up an order, and relax!

Things I'm liking right now

I hardly ever paint my nails because I'm so busy washing dishes, or things of the sort, but this new color got me all excited. I was worried it might wear off fast, but I did two coats, and no problem. I love the vintage green look to it. Oh yes, it is made by Revlon, and it is called "Minted."

I heard this song this morning by "The Devics" called "Song for a Sleeping Girl." I can't believe I haven't heard it before. It is so pretty!

Oh yes my dearest friends aunt made these adorable gifts!

And Were Back.....

I ate a whole lot of grilled foods, drank too much soda, and had a blast with our best friends!!!!

Here's me and the hubby cooking up a special meal for our friends (steak tacos with cilantro, guacamole, and authentic mexican beans)

The kids got to roast marshmallows for the first time! They thought it was the best thing in the world, and I did too ;)

We made a stop in St. Louis, MO to show the kids the arch. We weren't sure at first if we would, but we were so glad we did. The kids were in awe. It brought back so many memories, as we were engaged at the top 11 years ago!

We also stopped at one of my all time favorite pretzel places ever, Gus'. I haven't had one in ten years, and it was just as good as I had remembered. The kids loved them so much. They were delicious!!!

We came across this random Santa in a desolate parking lot as well. He was just hanging out with a bird on his thumb. I had to stop and take a picture.
Overall, we had such a good time this weekend. I will miss our friends so much, but I am so thankful we got to see them in person after almost four years.

No Bloggy Blog

I have been so busy lately it seems. Trying to wrap up a school year, sinus infections, getting ready for a camping trip, and well, just being a mommy. Today is my nine year anniversary to my best friend. We met in college and instantly fell in love and were best friends! I have never laughed so hard with someone in my life. We truly have the best time together! I can't believe how the time has flown!
I still need to get to work on some clothes making. I have been outside more now that the warm weather has kicked in. Is it just me, or just fresh air make you tired. I have been pooped lately. I finished up a embroidery project just in time for the "Feeling Stitchy: Rainbow of stitches Contest." I have been planning to make Lon Chaney Jr. for some time now for another art show, but amped up the project for the contest.

One of the prizes is 450 plus strands of embroidery floss from DMC. That is the most freaking awesome prize. Me want! I would love to win, but the competition is nuts good.
We have a camping trip with our bestest friends coming up. I havent' seen them in four years and we have both had another child since we have seen each other. We can't wait. I can't wait!
