T-shirts

I could live in t-shirts. I love finding funny ones at the thriftstore. I haven't had much luck lately, but I have been on the hunt. I love the website Threadless. They have the funniest tees for good prices too.
The Mr. T Tiger shirt is my fave! I really hope they reprint this on in medium!
Mr. T(iger) - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever
Okay and I love love this one. I first saw Dainty Squid wearing this one and I want this one as well. Its hilarious. They need to get my size again too!
Three Keyboard Cat Moon - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

I have been having one of those crazy type of weeks. Moody, tired, short tempered, just an all around turd. Yuk. I feel like I could curl up in a ball under my covers and fall asleep type of days. As a mom, this doesn't really work out that way. My kids are at a stage where they want to know how far can I push my mommy stage. Yeah, pretty much "one of those weeks."

P.S. The Dainty Squid is having giveaway from CSN.com stores. Check it out!

T.V. and Music

I recently came across the show "My Life As Liz." I wasn't sure if this was real or fake at first, but I soon got sucked in. It is a teen show, but with humor and humor that makes serious "teen" situations funny. I really enjoyed it. I didn't get to see the whole season, but I realized you can see full episodes on MTV. Bummed to find out however it won't be returning. This brought me back to my love for the show, " My So Called Life." Kinda similar title show. I was absolutely filled with joy when I heard this show was coming to dvd way back when. I have seen it so many times. And I have watched my dvd numerous times.

I always felt like Angela in highschool. Awckward, different, and in my one little world. I loved the cast too.

I was listening to Pandora this morning and they played a tune by Elliott Smith called "A Fond Farewell to a Friend." I love this song so much.

Well have a super duper Tuesday!

Summer Sewing Ideas

Now that I am nearly complete with some of my big orders, I am totally going to take some time to get to work on some summer shirts before summer is over. I like alot of the styles that Urban Outfitters has, but I can't always afford them, unless of course its on the clearance. I always take a stop at the one in Cincinnati on the way to my parents. We don't have one here. The t-shirt I love so much. I have always been a fan of the old worn t-shirt look. I try to find vintage tees at the thriftstore any chance I get. I have a John Cougar Mellanchamp one that is so comfortable, I just love.(note:not a fan, but he reminds me of my childhood). I found a vintage pencil sharpener, like they ones that used to hang on the wall in school. It goes perfect with all of our other vintage office supplies. I have been coming up empty handed thrifting lately. Well, I did find two more Star Wars cups to go with our collection. I completely forgot. One is "Jabba the Hutt" and the other has "Hans Solo". Score! OH yes we won a Nintendo on ebay the other day, and we cannot wait to get it. We bought some of the classic games too such as, "duck hunt", " super mario", "paper boy", and several more I don't know the names of. We can't wait to get it in the mail.

I got so bummed on another Ebay bidding war. I am wanting to buy a vintage "Lundby" dollhouse, but the prices keep going to high. I want to spend around 100 dollars total, but I'm not sure if this will happen. I thought about building my own, but I love the sun room in the vintage, the windows, just everything. I will keep looking though. Ebay starts to make you compromise what you would normally spend on something. I try to set my limit and stick too it. But sometimes you start to get annoyed and get in a bidding war. Happy Monday!

Where Have I Been, What Have I Been Doing?

My Kabobs!

I am still alive, just busy. I got my hair done today, which was super nice. I got some funky layers and got my red hair all fired up again. I did some short layers on the top of my hair but kept the long length. A funky touch. We did some grilling tonight too, in the rain. I was really in the mood for chicken kabobs with peppers and onions. The were delicious! I went on the hunt for a new pair of jeans, but came home with new shorts, a jacket, and a tank top. Gap had an extra 40% off of clearance so I scored a jacket for 5 bucks and a tank for 3, not too bad. I have the hardest time finding jeans I like. I cannot pay 70 dollars for jeans, but I hate the cheap ones at Old Navy, they just never fit right. So I search the clearance racks. I have been working like a crazy lady to do a consignment deal with a local Louisville shop call "Hey Tiger." If your in the area check it out! It is super fun! We have been doing alot of playing outside with all this spring weather. I can't wait to get my garden growing. I have all my pots started. We have been having a ton of rain, so I hope to get my soil all loosened and ready to plant. My husband and I have been really wanted to get a Nintendo to play all the old games. We are not huge in to video games, but the nostalgia of it, gets us all excited to play. Those games always were family friendly, easier to play, and bring back memories. I can't wait to get one. I'm looking forward to this summer. We have all kinds of little trips planned in the next couple of month. Well I'm off to watch SNL in a few!

The Fair

(pics via weheartit)

I love the fair in the summer. I love to eat corn dogs, bites of cotton candy, chili cheese dogs, frozen lemonade, and grilled corn on the cob at the fair. It is a no holds bar smorgasbord. Usually I have a stomach ache by the end of the day, but enjoyed every last bite. I love all the colors around. Bright lights flashing, the man on the microphone yelling," Step Right Up," and and kids giggleing and laughing on the rides. I love the smells of freshly popped popcorn and fried goods. The one day that you let your diet fly right out the window. I want to get embroidery all these senses and sights in my embroidery. I am getting excited to get started once I get some big wholesale orders finished this week. I have so many ideas swimming in my head, ready to get put on paper and then fabric. Happy Tuesday!

Modern Minis

There is a current green trend right now of people buying old shipping containers and refurbishing them into their own little apartment. How amazingly cool! The best part about these from Paris Renfroe is that they are miniature scale! Eek, so amazingly fun. They come in all different colors too!

Another drool worthy modern miniature is the Arnie Jacobsen house. I believe it comes out until September, but I just love the size and floor plan!

I can only imagine the price tag.

I have been checking ebay for an older dollhouse. I saw a Brio this weekend but lacked the dough to purchase it. I am contemplating buying a dollhouse kit, and modifying it to my likeing. Whats a girl to do.

On my other wants list are these adorable vintage whale salt and pepper shakers sold by RustBeltThreads on Etsy. They are just so darned happy.

Happy Monday!

Whiskey Business 3

I had so much fun at the moped rally; Whiskey Business 3. We had about 300 mopeders. I was insane to see! I rode for about 2 hours. There were only a few injuries. I was very thankful I didn't spill. My husband was so proud of me how well I kept up and didn't ride dangerously. We rode through some of the most beautiful countryside. Horses, flowers, farms, its was so picturesque. For safety reasons I don't have pics of that part. I am feeling the aches of riding that long, but it was well worth it. The different colors of paint on some of the mopeds was amazing. There were a few neon colors, sparkly colors, and other types. We ended our day with watching the largest fireworks display in the country, "Thunder over Louisville." Happy Sunday!

Friday Funs

I have a few things I wanted to share that I came across this week, and that I'm looking forward to in the next few months.

Camping with our bestest friends.

Okay check this house out. Its a dollhouse believe it or not. It is what they call a "Modern Dollhouse." They are not your typical victorian style houses. If you haven't had a chance to check out the flickr group "Modern Minatures" you will find a whole world of realistic dollhouses that are created with such attention to detail. I read an article in the New York Times about these modern miniatures. It was a very entertaining article.

I found this old Honda moped advertisement at an antique store last year and I absoluetely love it. I would love to ride mopeds in Tokyo. We have our big rally this weekend and I will have loads of pics to share.

And I'm also on the hunt for bike baskets for my moped. I have thought of using a crate, but I'm not sure thats my thing. I think I am more of a basket girl.

I love the bright cheery yellow on this one!

Super cool and I could put all kinds of goods in these from
Willow Baskets.

Well I hope you have a good weekend. I'll be back with weekend pics.

"Lost At Sea"

I had the opportunity to feature 3 pieces in a show in New York called "Lost at Sea" at Gallery Hanahou. I was very excited to be asked. Here are the details for the show. I wish I could attend.

There is something about the malleability and textures of fabric, thread, and yarn that speaks of the sea and its many mysteries.

Curated by Kristen Rask of Schmancy and "Plush You," "Lost at Sea" gathers 32 exciting artists who share underwater visions of items lost, creatures forgotten, and life that struggles to stay with us. The show will feature a broad array of amusing and uncanny works in embroidery, plush, and other materials.

Brooklyn fiber artist Nicole Licht will lead participants in making embroidery and fabric collages with a "Lost at Sea" theme in a workshop similar to one that she has led at the MAD museum.

Goings On

I got my "Keds" yesterday. I love. My daughter told me they were "nerd shoes." I love my nerd shoes.

Okay, I must have this bell for my moped. I have a little "meep, meep" horn, but come on, I can just imagine a hamburger ringing.

This Saturday my husband and I are going to the "Whiskey Business 3" moped rally. We expect about 300 mopeds cruising Louisville, Kentucky. It is also "Thunder over Louisville," one of the largest fireworks shows. It opens up the Kentucky derby. I cannot wait to go. You must see this video that one of the Bourbon Bandits put together, featuring my husbands moped buddies. It is so awesome and has me totally stoked to ride on Saturday!

Weekend Things

I found this vintage reproduction at the bookstore for only 4.98. I was so thrilled. I have seveal metal wind-up toys, and I loved the colors on the rocketship. And who doesn't like rocketships!

I love vintage napkins. I loved how springy these looked. I just wanted to eat a lemon marangue pie. I like to use vintage napkins on coffee tables and side tables as like a mini table clothes to add some flare for the season at hand.

I had my fave taco's at Luna's. Al Pastor Tacos all the way. They are the most delicious tacos ever! I finally took a pic of the world famous tacos!

You can't have your mexican tacos without a mandarin "Jarritos." Only the best little mexican places have the "Jarritos." Packed full of sugar and deliciousness.

How was your weekend?

I am having a hard time finding these little Kawaii poops. I think they might rare.
If anyone has seen these let me know! They are cute and funny!

(found here)

Stuffs

I have been wanting a pair of canvas shoes for awhile now. I have some high top converse I wear, but they just don't look great with everything. So I did some searching yesterday and realized I really like the look of keds. The good old fashioned ones. I got them on sale on the Sears website for 13.99 before shipping. I was stoked. I eventually want to get a bright colored pair, but the black were so cheap I went for those. I have so much work to do, it is not even funny. I need to finish up my art pieces for the "Lost At Sea" show next month. I just have to do a few finishing touches and frame them, and they will be set to go. The part I'm having troubles with, is the framing. I'm not sure how I want to do it. Quite perplexing. I think I've googled framing embroidery a thousand times. I'm just so undecided. ARgh! I have the opportunity to sell my work locally which I am excited about. I have an order that I must finish this weekend. I have so many ideas swimming in my head that I need time to accomplish. I am going to have to take a vacation soon, to do work. Crazy sounding huh? By the time I complete my schedule for the day, I seem to only have a couple hours to work. Well I'll just give a rundown of my day.
Around 8:00- All the kiddos are awake which then involves a diaper change, letting the dog out, and making breakfast.
As soon as this is done I start the cleaning. I cannot start my day without the house clean.
Around 9:00 I run on my treadmill for 2 miles.
10:00ish I start teaching my son his morning subjects, math, spelling, and english
1:00 ish or sooner we eat lunch, then I play, paint, go to the park, read books.
3:00ish The little ones take a nap, and I complete the second half of school, science/history, reading (shakespeare for kids at the moment).
4:00ish I try to relax for a few minutes and sometimes do a bit of embroidery for my shop.
4:30 ish I begin to figure out what is for dinner and get that started. We are early eaters.
5:30 Dinner, clean-up
Until about 7:30 I hang with the hubby , relax, let the kids run wild, maybe watch a kid show.
7:30-8:00 My husband and I get the kiddies ready for bed.
8:00- Pass out. No, but I try to sit for a few minutes, check emails, read blogs.
And then I try to work until about 10:00 or 11:00
11:00- Watch "The Daily Show" and sometimes if I haven't fallen asleep on the couch watch "The Colbert Report."
12:00 I am hopefully in bed
Well thats my day.

Let Me Introduce Myself

I chose the picture above because it sums me up. I love to be at home with my family, I love to collect vintage (telephone table, orange phone), and I love to sew (the shirt was made by me). I was reading "The Dainty Squid" and she introduced herself, so I thought I might do the same. Here are some facts about me you may not know.

1. I have been married for almost nine years, and my husband is my very best friend. We have the same sense of humor, love to take drives in our car, and love to lay on the couch in the evening and eat snacks (he makes the best snack packs= snacks he buys from the gas station). One time he came home with a coffee cake, beef jerky, a coke, and combos. Yeah it was the best Friday ever!

2. I love cooked sushi , but most of all eel!
3. I grew up in Ohio, but have lived in California, Missouri, Kentucky, and Indiana
4. I hate driving over bridges. I almost always have visions of plunging over the edge (horrible I know).
5. I taught myself how to sew and embroider. I love to sew my own clothes.
6. I like to watch reality paranormal shows too much. I don't even believe most of it, but find it entertaining.
7. I have never had a manicure. A bit of a germaphobe.
8. I have never left the country.
9. I had never been on a plane until college, and with my luck, had to end up sleeping in the Chicago airport by myself.
10. I thought I would be a graphic designer after I graduated highschool but instead went to a fundamentalist christian college in Missouri. I had a great time there, only because I met my husband and my best friend there. I did learn a few things as well ;) ( I got written up because I wore converse with my skirt, yeah, the rules were crazy).
11. I love to collect Re-ment (ugh, yeah I'm sure you knew that)
12. I never had a boyfriend until my husband! I knew it was love at first sight!
13. I am shy when I first meet someone. I always feel ackward when I go places by myself. I always think people in the stores think I'm stealing.
14. I dye my hair red, most people think its my real color.
15. I would love to travel the country in an R.V. or streamline trailer when my kids get older.
I hope I can get to know my readers ever better , and that you know me better. Tell me about yourself!

Thrifty Weekend, and my small cup collection

I got to do a little bit of flea market shopping this weekend. I was so excited to find a Vintage magazine rack. I have been looking for one forever! I always tend to find , country style. The design on this one got me so excited and the color of the wood. I had thought about repainting it, but I'm afraid it may take away from the charm of the design on the front.

A couple of years ago, my husband and I started collecting the collector glasses that remind us of our childhood. We had first found the "Battle Star Galactica." This one is my husbands childhood memories.

Our second find would be the "Return of the Jedi." Now if you grew up in the late seventies , or early eighties your have to have heard of Star Wars. This one is a family favorite!

The glass I found this weekend was "E.T." This movie is the epitemy of the eighties. My husband cried for three days afer he saw this movie! He was five I believe. I love how the cup says "Phone Home." This was the classic line from the movie. It's amazing how just little cups can bring back so many feelings and memories from your childhood. What do you collect?
